“We couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to expand to this neighborhood and serve people in a new part of town,” Elegy stated in an Instagram announcement. “What makes it even more special for us is that we’re taking over a space that’s been lovingly and successfully occupied by one of our favorite businesses in town, and some of our favorite people to work with since we started Elegy in 2020. We’re honored that Dozen is passing the torch on to us, and we can’t wait to make the space our own.”

Dozen Bakery is planning to relocate to a new, larger location next year, as previously reported by What Now Nashville.

Bryan and Lindsay Rushton, Andrew Cook and Patrick Hayes launched the Elegy Coffee brand in 2020 and have since grown to three locations: East Nashville, Germantown and Downtown Nashville.

Cook told What Now Nashville that they have been working with Dozen for a while, purchasing bread and pastries from the bakery for Elegy and their other business, The Fox Bar & Cocktail Club. When they learned of an opportunity to take over the space, everything came into place.

“We’re always keeping an eye out around town for different opportunities and have our eye on neighborhoods that would make a lot of sense for us, and Wedgewood-Houston was at the top of that list for a long time,” Cook said. “I don’t know what time it became real, but I think when we went as a group and looked at the space in the context that it could be a new Elegy, we knew that it was the next move for us.”

The team is planning to begin renovations in early 2025. Plans for the space include changing the layout of the seating and bar and adjusting the space to match the Elegy aesthetic. Cook noted that the room is big, light and bright, which suits their plant-based design well.

“We don’t want people to feel like they’re walking into Dozen with a different logo on the door. We want to make it our own,” Cook said. “I’m excited to reimagine the space and make it better for the way we like to do things.”

Right now, an exact opening timeframe remains unknown but the shop is expected to open in 2025.
