The plans filed to renovate and remodel the museum were approved on Jan. 5. As described in the permit, “This project is an interior renovation/conversion of the George Jones Museum, restaurant, bar and event center that was permitted and constructed in 2015. The tenant fit-out will maintain the existing restaurant (level 1), event center (level 3), and rooftop bar (level 4) and convert the museum (level 2) into a bar/restaurant.”

The permit plans also state that “A portion of the lower level (the original museum offices) will be converted to a small bar on the ground level. The project includes work to all five levels of the existing building. The building envelope and structure will remain unchanged.”

DraftKings is known for their sports betting services, however the business is ventured into the restaurant industry with the opening of their first Sports and Social bar in collaboration with Live! Dining & Entertainment, a division of The Cordish Companies, in Troy, Michigan in Dec. 2022.

According to a DraftKings press release from 2021, “the Sports & Social/DraftKings venues will be designed by ICRAVE, an internationally acclaimed award-winning strategy, design, and development firm, and promises to fill a niche by providing an upscale, premier sports and entertainment experience.”

The sports bar will just be a block away from the many honky-tonk bars on Broadway and is sure to garner new business due to the popular location.

The DraftKings Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz did not immediately respond to What Now Nashville’s request for comment.

There is no confirmed grand-opening date, however the location may be open as soon as later this year.
