The first spot opened in East Nashville at 851 Dickerson Pike. Now, franchise owner Wendy McCrory is making plans to add more locations in the market.

Currently, exact locations are TBA, but McCrory is hunting for the next spots in the area.

“We are currently scouting locations and hopeful to have a few in the pipeline quickly,” McCrory told The Tennessean.

The fried chicken chain started more than six decades ago in a tavern in Mason, Tenn. In 1984, Vernon “Gus” Bonner took over the business after his parents passed away and named it “Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken.” Since then, the Bonner family business has grown to multiple locations across 14 states, with the strongest presence in Tennessee and Texas.

The Southern-style menu serves a variety of chicken offerings alongside classic sides like baked beans, slaw and potato salad.

“Not to be confused with Nashville hot chicken; we serve southern spicy fried chicken,” the Gus’s website reads. “We make all our southern sides in-house daily; from shredding fresh cabbage for our coleslaw to cutting potatoes for our potato salad.”

As of now, it is unclear what the timeline will be for the next Nashville-area location and how many to expect in the market in the future.
