Experienced franchisee Jim Richards is opening this inaugural Tennessee location of the brand.

According to a press release, Richard’s company Sequoyah Hospitality, LLC is behind the signed deal for 18 locations across Tennessee. This location in Murfreesboro will be the first of the batch, but Richards shared with What Now Nashville he is working to lock down a location for the second location in Knoxville at this time.

Richards is quoted in the press release on his excitement to work with the brand.

“We are excited about the full flavor menu provided by Hawaiian Bros,” said Richards. “The small menu is unique and operationally efficient and brings to our markets a new fresh approach to serving customers quickly in a south-sea-themed environment.”

Richards currently owns and operates several Five Guys restaurants and is opening Big Chicken restaurants all over the area as well. In an email to What Now Nashville, Richards shared that he and his team were inspired to invest in Hawaiian Bros Island Grill because of the concept’s fun brand and ethos of serving great food very quickly.

Since March 2023, Hawaiian Bros Island Grill has signed 8 development agreements with multi-unit franchisees to develop and open more than 150 restaurants across more than 20 markets in 10 states. Currently, there are more than 50 Hawaiian Bros Island Grill restaurants open, some of which are corporate owned and others of which are franchisee-owned.

According to Richards, he and his team have just locked down the lease for this Clari Park location.  He hopes this location in Murfreesboro will open by the second quarter of 2025.
