According to an application filed with the Murfreesboro Planning Department, Middle Ground Brewing Company is set to open at 2476 Old Fort Pkwy in the former Ahart’s Pizza location. The official name is currently pending, according to owner Brandon Bingman.
The goal for opening is this summer, according to Bingman. What Now Nashville spoke with Bingman about the vision for the new brewery.
“We’re really excited about being an anchor in the community, a good place for family, friends, and new friends to come together. That’s what the Middle Ground is. Specifically, we’ll be a new spot for the Blackman side of town and we’ll be the first brewery under Murfreesboro’s new zoning ordinance that allowed us to open up shop in a commercial zone, where previously industrial zones were a requirement. This should make for a comfortable and easy location for people to stop in for a pint after work or while they’re out and about. We’re right off I-24 on Old Fort Parkway, so it’s a very convenient location, ” Bingman said in a phone interview.
The permit states that the location will be 2800 square feet of indoor seating space, around 800 square feet dedicated to the brewing area, and will also include an additional 1069 square feet of outside space on the patio.
The business will also include a small area for food to be served alongside beer. Food prep in a warming kitchen will be the extent of the kitchen space, with no raw foods being handled, according to the permit.
Menu examples include but are not limited to panini sandwiches, pretzels, snack plates, and pre-cooked wings. Middle Ground will also eventually aim to distribute the brand’s beer to local purveyors, which would include “small distribution of our beers to local bars and restaurants – a volume that can be handled with a small delivery or sprinter van,” Bingman said.
The long-term goal of the brewery is to become a unique gathering spot for the community to gather at.
“We’re really aiming to be a family-friendly spot for everyone to enjoy, we plan to offer non-alcoholic beverages to give an inclusive option for guests,” Bingman said.
