Aside from the new location inside of the school’s Janet Ayers Academic Center, the brand has a goal of expanding anywhere from 5-10 locations over the next year or two throughout the suburbs of Nashville and the Southeast as a whole, according to a Q&A with The Nashville Business Journal.

A press release stated that co-owner and founder Emanuel Reed, who is a Belmont alumnus, attributes some personal success to his time as a graduate student at the university’s Jack C. Massey College of Business.

“Belmont taught me several lessons as a graduate student. Among the most important were the power of preparation and focus on building; whether that’s preparing yourself for a new career, building a strong team as a leader or scaling your emerging small business,” Reed said in the release.

The new satellite location is slated to offer two new menu items; roasted chicken wings and breakfast flats, in addition to its popular pizza and cinnamon roll offerings.

Founded and co-owned by Clinton Gray, Derrick Moore and Reed, the successful restaurant originally came into the world on a shared dream inside of a garage in 2015. Over the last eight years, the brand has grown to give back to its roots and present opportunities to underprivileged communities.

“Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria is a fast-casual and gourmet pizza joint serving up artisan pizzas and unique cinnamon rolls made with locally sourced ingredients. It’s a hip-hop-inspired spot founded by three Nashville natives who aim to invigorate less touched areas of the community through employment opportunities and accessible dining experiences including locally brewed craft beer and innovative pizza creations. Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria offers build your own pizzas, take out services, and delivery through third party vendors,” states its website.

What Now Nashville reached out for comment from Slim and Husky officials but did not immediately hear back.
