“We are absolutely thrilled to have Café Cheeserie in the museum as a fun, high-quality amenity and destination for our guests and neighbors,” said Seth Feman, executive director and CEO of the Frist, in a release, according to the Nashville Business Journal. “There are many rich connections to be made between the visual and culinary arts.”

Cafe Cheeserie will feature similar food to The Grilled Cheeserie, which is known for its sandwiches and melts, as well as its make-your-own-melt option. The Grilled Cheeserie also offers build-your-own mac and cheese options and a kid’s menu in their current brick-and-mortar location in Hillsboro Village.

Cafe Cheeserie is expected to offer sandwiches, soups, salads, charcuterie boards and grab-and-go menu options. It will also serve breakfast items like pastries and Good Citizen Coffee, and there will be an expanded kids’ menu.

“It’s a concept that came out of our love for a specific product, which is cheese, and how comforting it can be,” said Crystal De Luna-Bogan, co-owner of The Grilled Cheeserie. “This new concept is what we’re calling fromage-focused, which is not relegated to just grilled cheese. We are highlighting dishes regionally and locally with cheese and having a lot of fun, themed items that will correlate with openings of exhibitions at the Frist Museum.”

Joseph Bogan and Crystal De Luna-Bogan first launched The Grilled Cheeserie concept as a food truck in 2010 and have since opened three brick-and-mortar locations. However, they closed their spots in Franklin and Hunters Station in 2022. This is the first new opening for the team since then.

De Luna Bogan said they are looking forward to collaborating with other local restaurants and culinary artists, and to bringing a dining location back to the Frist for visitors to enjoy.

The Frist first opened in 2001 and features rotating art exhibitions, community outreach activities and educational programs. The Cafe Cheeserie will be open within the museum’s hours of operation.
