The fast-casual franchise offers smoothies, bowls, sandwiches, wraps and salads. The brand began in 1997 and has since grown to 1,400 locations in 44 states. This new location will be owned by franchisee Sachin Patel.

What Now Nashville connected with Patel over an email Q&A to learn more about the new location and his background.

“I’m local to the area, so it’s exciting to be going back to my roots and providing my community with a new go-to spot for their needs,” said Patel. “The smoothies and food are unbeatable, so I think this will be a welcomed addition to the area.”

Patel will be opening five additional Tropical Smoothie Cafe over the next few years.

Patel confirmed there will be about 18 seats within the cafe. As permits have now been approved, Patel plans to begin construction immediately. Patel shared that the design of the space will let guests “feel like they are taking a five minute vacation.”

“I’ve been in the restaurant industry for quite some time,” said Patel. “I was previously a franchisee with a national sandwich brand, but I recently sold those locations and made the decision to move back to Tennessee. I came across the opportunity for Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and I knew instantly that this was going to be my next step – the brand is really fun and vibrant, and exactly what I wanted to bring to my community as someone local to the area.”

The new Tropical Smoothie Cafe will open this fall.
