The idea is for dog lovers to enjoy a beer without worrying about leaving their dog alone, which Austin Gauthier described as being something that he noticed Nashville lacks. “There are so many amazing things to do in Nashville, but too often you have to leave your dog at home,” Austin said in the release.

Along with a spacious dog park area for dogs to run around and socialize, Urban Dog Bar also plans to include dogs in the festivities with its own version of dog beer. According to their website, “our ‘dog beer’ is a non-toxic, non-alcoholic (of course!) refreshing beverage complete with a chicken flavor. Our dog, Edley, personally recommends it!”

Rebecca Gauthier told What Now Nashville about the excitement around the opening. “As dog owners (and dog lovers) ourselves, we are excited to create a space and community for both dogs and their owners to have fun and connect with others. We are re-defining ‘dog-friendly’ in Nashville,” Rebecca said in an email.

The concept will include an expansive 5,000 square feet of indoor space as well as 15,500 square feet of outdoor space complete with turf and picnic tables to enjoy in the warmer months. Mark Watson and Mike Stiles are listed as the architects for the project.

Urban Dog Bar will also offer Wi-Fi, a full bar, coffee and a small food menu.
