The fried chicken brand is known for receiving rave reviews and was even featured on two shows from the Food Channel, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, $40 a Day with Rachael Ray and Man v. Food with Adam Richman. Gus’s currently operates multiple locations spanning across 14 states, and it’s clear the growth won’t stop soon.

What Now Nashville spoke to Wendy McCory who operates as the President of Gus’s Franchisor, LLC and will own the new Nashville location.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am about entering the Nashville market, and even more so the cool building we will rehab into a Gus’s. Nashville has been on our radar for many years, it is such a thriving city with so much opportunity, it is hard to not want to be a part of the growth,” McCory said.

A grand opening date has not yet been decided, as the process is in beginning stages. Construction permits for the site are awaiting approval and general contractors are being interviewed soon, McCory told What Now Nashville.

Gus’s menu distinguishes that the fried chicken it serves is no ordinary chicken, in fact, its recipe is a closely guarded secret.

“Not to be confused with Nashville hot chicken; we serve southern spicy fried chicken. We make all our southern sides in-house daily; from shredding fresh cabbage for our coleslaw to cutting potatoes for our potato salad. Most of our sides tend to be on the sweeter side to pair perfectly with our chicken,” the Gus’s website states.

Gus’s Fried Chicken roots back to its recipe’s inception in 1953, however the first location of Gus’s opened in 1984 in Mason, Tennessee. Over 40 years, the restaurant now has coast-to-coast locations and aims to bring its “world famous” fried chicken available to everyone.
