Slim + Husky’s Pizza Beeria is making its way into the Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. Described as hip-hop inspired spot, Slim + Husky’s was founded by three Nashvillians seeking to invest in underserved areas of the city. Since 2015, Slim + Husky’s have provided quality job opportunities all over Nashville and Atlanta, all the while serving delicious pizza and craft beer to happy customers. The fast-casual brand offers take-out and delivery at their nine brick-and-mortar locations.

Now, however, Slim + Husky’s is venturing into new territory with an unconventional kitchen set-up in WeHo.

What Now Nashville connected with Slim + Husky’s co-founder and CMO Clint Gray for an interview to learn more about the brand’s plans for their new location at Diskin Cider.

“We’re doing a kitchen takeover at Diskin Cider,” Gray confirmed. “We’ve had a great relationship with Diskin, and when opportunity came along to take over that space we couldn’t pass it up. We are excited by the idea of serving Diskin’s visitors as well as people in this neighborhood who have been wanting to have our pizza. Wedgewood Houston is one of the areas we’ve wanted to enter.”

Slim + Husky’s plans to operate Thursday through Sunday out of the Diskin Cider space. Gray shared plans for a takeout window on the Martin Street side of the brewery. The window itself already exists but the current design of the building covers it up. Gray and his team are planning minor renovations to the exterior of the building to get the takeout window up and running in the coming weeks.

This will be Slim + Husky’s first kitchen takeover. In the past they have had residences at renowned locations like MGM in Las Vegas, but this installation in Diskin Cider will last at least a year.

“We would like this to be a long term situation,” said Gray. “We are planning on introducing DJs outside here and there on different days. We want to set up some café-style tables outside the window as well.”

Slim + Husky’s team members will be staffing the kitchen in Diskin Cider. The whole process of coordinating the kitchen takeover has been a collaborative effort. As a part of the partnership, Diskin Cider is now producing Slim + Husky So Icy Cider, which is being sold in other Slim + Husky’s locations. The cider mixes strawberry and lime flavors.

Slim + Husky’s will serve a majority of their signature pizzas, cinnamon rolls and salads at the Diskin Cider location.
