According to a beer board application submitted on February 14, another Mexican restaurant is slated for Nashville from a familiar face. Ford Fry’s Atlanta-based Little Rey “Al Carbon” is projected to open in Midtown at 2019 West End Ave., joining Rey’s other Mexican concept Superica in Downtown Nashville and The Optimist, Le Loup, and Star Rover Sound in Germantown. It’s currently unknown what an opening timeline might look like for the new spot, however, it could be as early as a few months, pending permitting and construction efforts.

Fry’s Little Rey “Al Carbon” debuted in Atlanta in 2019 and has plans to open two more in the area, along with locations in Raliegh and Houston, as first reported by What Now Atlanta. The brand specializes in pollo al carbon tacos, which include a half or whole chicken served build-your-own style with corn or flour tortillas, smoked onions and jalapenos, ranch beans, and cilantro rice, feeding up to four people. The menu also offers vegetarian and vegan options, a weekend breakfast menu, and margaritas and beer. The restaurant’s interior features an upscale, modern environment with rustic, vintage accents.
Permits indicate that the Nashville location of Little Rey will include an outdoor patio. At the time of publication, Little Rey’s beer board application is part of a preliminary application process and no official lease has been signed for the West End Avenue location, according to reporting by the Nashville Business Journal.
