Fryce Cream got its start as a pop-up in 2021 and has since expanded to open seasonally, providing the perfect antidote for a hot summer day. Last year, the business was open from spring until Thanksgiving, with more expanded operating hours on the horizon.

Owned by Jeremy Barlow, a local Chef, author, food policy activist, and a winner of Food Network’s show “Chopped,” Fryce Cream is one of many culinary adventures by Barlow, who has helped to shape Music City as a dining destination for decades.

After six years in various chef positions in Nashville, Barlow opened his first restaurant, Tayst Restaurant and Wine Bar in 2004. After four years, Tayst was the first restaurant in Nashville to become a Certified Green Restaurant by DineGreen’s Green Restaurant Association, according to a 2019 article. Tayst closed in 2012 to allow Barlow to focus on his other concept called Sloco, a sandwich shop in 12 South.

When asked why the Fryce Cream team chose Donelson, Barlow said “it just feels like the right spot to be. I had the same feelings when I opened Sloco in 12 South in 2011,” in a statement to What Now Nashville.

As for the menu, Fryce Cream Donelson will offer the same popular soft serve flavors customers love alongside house-made fries with your choice of seasoning and accompanying dips. The Donelson location will offer canned and bottled beer instead of the draft beer served at the 12 South location.

“We do 2 things and we do them really well. Homemade soft serve and crunchy fries,” Barlow stated.
