According to a social media announcement, the nano-brewery Harding House will downsize in leadership and locations. Its original taproom in The Nations at 904 51st Ave N. will close doors this week on March 2, and owners and co-founders Matthew Fung-A-Fat and Tyler Pate will no longer be involved with the business.

“Following a series of unfortunate events, we have made the hard decision to shut down our operations at 904 51st Ave. This decision has not been made lightly, we are saddened as we take this next step. However, we do not see this as the end of Harding House, but only a transition! We will continue to be present in the market and are working on plans for the future. Be on the lookout for what comes next,” reads an Instagram caption from the business.

Recent reporting from the Nashville Post reveals that owner and co-founder Nate Underwood will move forward with the brewery business as the sole owner/operator. Underwood intends to see through moving Harding House to a new location in East Nashville at 3101 Ambrose Ave, which first began the permitting process last November, as What Now Nashville previously reported.

“I’ve formed a new entity to retain the lease to the East Nashville building and want to build out the space. I will be contract brewing and hope to open a taproom,” Underwood told the Post.

Harding House opened in The Nations in 2018, its name stemming from nickname given to a house on Harding Place where Underwood lived after graduating from college and where the inspiration for the brewery originated, its website states. The brand had grown to offer a wide variety of seasonal drafts on tap, canned beers sold in local liquor stores, and special collaboration releases, including a rice ale made with local Japanese-fusion restaurant, Kisser.

Originally, What Now Nashville reported a tentative opening timeline of this summer for Harding House’s location in East. With additional hurdles to jump through, it’s unknown when Harding House may operate a taproom in the future. Customers can stay tuned for updates from the business on its website and Instagram.
