La Vergne’s only authentic Filipino market and restaurant MaeMax has been Middle Tennessee’s premier destination for all things Filipino since 2017, serving up favorites like halo-halo and lumpia. It’s recently been announced that MaeMax will expand with a second location opening later this summer in Madison, at 2106 Gallatin Pike N.

Although an official grand opening date has not yet been announced, MaeMax’s second location is expected to open later this year, given permitting is completed on time.

Named after his two children, MaeMax’s owner and founder Chriss Goyenechea has been at the helm of the business for the past five years whilst raising his family and also owning a second small business called Crovean, focused on website development and digital solutions.

When asked about the new location, Goyenechea said “We will be able to cater a lot of people. This has been a problem with our LaVergne location.  It’s a small cafe where it’s hard for us to cater to large groups.”

“Bringing authentic Filipino food and products to our fellow kababayans and food lovers has given us joy and blessings. Seeing new faces every day and hearing their stories on how they missed their Lola’s (grandma) cooking or stories about how our food brings back memories of our homeland. It is a privilege for us to serve and to see the emotions first-hand,” states the Goyenechea family on MaeMax’s website.

The menu at MaeMax’s restaurant includes classic Filipino comfort foods such as pancit, chicken adobo, bistek, sisig, ube ice cream, and even offers all-day breakfast along with a dessert menu.

The new location of MaeMax will be nearly 9,000 square feet and will include retail space, backroom storage, and a restaurant.

“The kitchen we have in Madison is at least four times bigger than the one we have in La Vergne, so we could basically crank out a lot of Filipino food,” Goyenechea originally told the Nashville Scene.
