According to recently filed building permits, downtown Nashville will soon see an Italian restaurant called Villa Castrioti at 300 Commerce St. as early as next year.
Although an official grand opening date is too far out to determine, if construction and permitting efforts are completed on time the restaurant plans to open next spring, in March 2024.
This location will become the third of the Tennessean restaurant, with its two other locations near Memphis, in Cordova and Lakeland.
Founded in 1989 by co-owner Aron Pullen’s family, Villa Castrioti has been a staple for authentic, homemade Italian cuisine in the Memphis suburbs for over 30 years. Its Lakeland location opened doors in late 2022, and its plans to expand further include coming East to Music City.
“Nashville is a big city and a big market. We feel like we have something to contribute to Nashville as well. It’s right there by Printer’s Alley and I feel like the location is huge. Second Avenue is going to be doing lots of development and it’s a growing spot,” co-owner Joe Clark originally told the Nashville Business Journal about Villa Castrioti’s growth.
The Nashville location will have between 150 to 170 seats. Its menu offers classic yet upscale Italian dishes such as caprese salad, fried mozzarella, toasted ravioli, gnocchi, handmade pasta and pizza entrees as well as filet mignon, seafood, chicken and veal dishes, tiramisu, and gelato. Its two current locations offer operating hours of 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and both lunch and dinner service Tuesdays through Thursdays.
What Now Nashville reached out to Villa Castrioti officials for comment but did not immediately hear a response by the time of publication.
