Nashville restaurant owners–The Darsinos family– will open two new restaurants next January in Donelson.
Earlier this year, Axios Nashville reported that Bill Darsinos is spearheading an effort to bring a new development that includes a new sports bar, Italian restaurant and contemporary barbershop to Donelson.
Darsinos confirmed to What Now that he plans to open two restaurants that are part of the development– Salento Italia, and Buttermilk (a new breakfast and lunch restaurant)—mid-January.
Darsinos is partnering up with is brother, Sam Darsinos, to open Salento. He will own Buttermilk with Martin’s barbeque owner Pat Martin.
The Darsinos also own other restaurants in Tennessee including Greko and Darfons.
Salento is inspired by the influence Greeks had on Italian cuisine, said Darsinos, whose family has Greek roots.
“A lot of Greeks immigrated to Italy about 40 or 50 years ago,” he said. “I went there for the first time about 10 years ago. I love the city. It has a lot of Greek influence.”
Diners who visit Salento can expect Italian comfort food such as capaccio, grilled octopus, bruschetta, fava bean dips and more.
Those who visit Buttermilk can expect homemade old school biscuits, traditional southern breakfast as well as lunch including catfish, meatloaf and country fried steak.
As far as the location, Darsinos said he’s expected to bring both restaurants to Donelson.
“We’re excited to be here. We love the area,” he said. “We’re going to be a family-friendly comfortable restaurant.”
