Recently filed permits with Metro reveal the latest tenant of 1100 Fatherland St. Suite 104, otherwise known as the space last home to vegan restaurant The Wild Cow. International Tea and Coffee will soon take over the space, moving from a nearby location in The Shoppes on Fatherland at 1006 Fatherland St.

An exact grand opening date for the new site has not yet been announced. Permits note there will be no structural work and no expansion of the existing building footprint, only changing out equipment and cleaning of the space.

Co-owner Laura Thompson will oversee business operations at the new site and existing locations in White House and Portland. Coming from a background in restaurant management and the hospitality industry, Thompson founded International Tea and Coffee as a way to help solve the disconnect between consumers and knowledge of the tea and coffee industry.

“So many people experience and love a certain beverage from the industry giants, but know nothing about what is in it or how to prepare it for themselves. International Tea and Coffee Company was created to bridge cultures through beverages while also educating the Southern states in tea that isn’t just sweet tea,” states the businesses’ website.

International Tea and Coffee provides a well-rounded experience in selling high-quality loose-leaf and bagged teas, with over 100 varieties. Its specialty coffee is locally sourced and single-origin. The shop also offers boba, local honey, and retail.

An interview with Thomspon is forthcoming. Customers can learn more about International Tea and Coffee on its website, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
