There is currently no confirmed opening date for the new restaurant and bar, though company officials are aiming for Q4 2024.

Founded in 2012 by Jeff Chon, Tabu Shabu was created during a quest for quality Asian cuisine with carefully sourced ingredients. The company has seven California locations and one in Texas, making this the first-to-market Tabu Shabu concept in Tennessee.

What Now Nashville reached out to Chon to learn more about the incoming concept.

“We are frequent visitors of Nashville and knew we could bring something to add to the vibrant culture brewing there. Our operating manager in California ended up relocating there so we thought it would be a great opportunity to make our dream come true,” Chon told What Now in an email.

As for the menu, Oak by Tabu will offer both a robust food menu and a full bar complete with specialty cocktails. Specific details of the dishes served are still being finalized.

“Our focus is a Japanese-Asian influenced menu with a craft cocktail program. Top-notch ingredients and authentic preparation will help us stand apart from the already phenomenal restaurant scene in Nashville,” Chon shared.

Customers can stay tuned for additional information on Tabu Shabu’s website.
