The newest concept from hospitality duo Mikey Corona and Brian Riggenbach is taking Nashville by storm. On the heels of announcing a second location of the just-launched Tío Fun for Franklin, the owners recently revealed that they’re actively looking to expand with a third location of the unique Mexican restaurant. Specifically, the team is eyeing one very popular neighborhood: Wedgewood Houston.

Recent reporting by the Nashville Business Journal highlighted the potential third location. Although an official lease for another location has not yet been signed, considering the current growth pattern of the business model, it wouldn’t be long between a location being scouted and doors opening to the public. Last year, Tío Fun opened just a few months after being announced as a brand-new concept.
Wedgewood Houston is currently home to many Mexican-inspired offerings like Bastion’s take on bar food nachos, Alebrije’s food truck at Never Never, and the recently opened Mercado by Butchertown.
Riggenbach revealed that Wedgewood Houston stands out to him due to its proximity to the GEODIS soccer stadium, which would not only be great for foot traffic but would tie in a part of Mexican culture since soccer, or fútbol, is a wildly popular sport in the country.
Since its inception, Tío Fun has shown Nashville how it excels in bringing forth a fun-loving and approachable take on the cuisine, offering a variety of special dishes like its Tijuana dog, frito pie, corn in a cup, twisted potato nachos, vegan carnitas tacos, Mexi-Izza, and Mikey’s Super Taco.
