According to a recent news release, Austin-based Torchy’s Tacos will open its first location in Nashville at 1929 Broadway, the location last home to Flatiron restaurant. An opening timeline is forthcoming, but based on construction and permitting efforts it’s likely the location may open late next year. Construction at the site is slated to begin within a few months.
Partnering with local real estate management, development and brokerage company H.G. Hill Realty Company, Torchy’s Tacos will open in the 4,690-square-foot Midtown building split between Division and Broadway. The building is also home to Two Boots Pizza.
“As Torchy’s Tacos continues its expansion into Tennessee, we are thrilled they selected our unique 1940’s-era building in the heart of Midtown for their first Nashville location,” said Jimmy Granbery, chair and CEO of H.G. Hill Realty Company, in the release.
Torchy’s Tacos got its start in 2006 with humble beginnings as a food trailer from founder and CEO Mike Rypka and now operates over 100 locations across 14 states. The brand prides itself on offering homemade tortillas, unique monthly specials, an all-day breakfast menu, and fresh-squeezed, hand-shaken margaritas and local beers on tap.
“We’ve known for years that Nashville was a city we’d love to bring Torchy’s Tacos to, as it feels so much like our hometown of Austin,” said Rypka in the release.
Customers can stay tuned for additional details including an opening date in 2024 on Torchy’s Tacos website and Instagram page. Torchy’s Tacos officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment from What Now Nashville.
