According to recent permits and company officials, the fast-casual North Carolina-based burger chain Hwy 55 will open a new location in the nearby Nashville suburb, Murfreesboro, at 5131 Franklin Road early next year. Area developer Brad Jones is overseeing the operations of the upcoming site, as well as the current nine Tennessee locations and two upcoming locations in Lawrenceburg and Lewisburg.

“Overall we have 130 locations and we’re adding more each month. A majority of our stores are in North Carolina but we have 9 in Tennessee with 3 new Tenn. stores slated to open in the coming 6 months. We love Tennessee and Tennessee loves Hwy 55. We are looking to expand throughout the state,” stated Hwy 55 Senior Vice President of Marketing, Adam Wiggins, in an email.

According to its website, the brand began in 1991 with founder Kenney Moore taking a unique approach with an open grill concept, helming both the kitchen and taking orders simultaneously to greet and chat with guests efficiently. Today, Hwy 55 models each location around its open grill and emphasizes a localized, neighborhood feel at all its sites.

“Our company motto, which is seen on the side of our new building, is ‘Love Your Neighbor.’ The exciting part about expanding in Tennessee is we feel like our ‘love your neighbor’ mentality fits perfectly with the great people in this state. It’s just a great fit. We aren’t just cooking and serving food for our customers. We are building relationships with them,” Wiggins shared.

Hwy 55’s menu offers a variety of cheeseburgers, cheesesteaks, frozen custard, chicken platters, salads, and hand-squeezed lemonade. Regular hours of operation are expected to be Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m, and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Customers can keep up to date with Hwy 55’s expansion efforts on its website, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
