The locally-owned barbecue restaurant with two locations in Nashville will be paring down operations. Smokin’ Thighs’ original location in Wedgewood-Houston at 611 Wedgewood Ave. will be adding a second story to the existing building and its Sylvan Park location at 4400 Charlotte Ave. will eventually close its doors after almost two years of business.

Though the Sylvan Park building has already been listed for sale, Smokin’ Thighs will remain operating at this location until the building has been purchased, which may be anytime over the next few months. It’s likely Smokin’ Thighs Sylvan Park may stop seating customers at this location by the end of summer, but will continue to remain open at 611 Wedgewood Ave during construction.

“We will continue to operate the Charlotte Avenue location until we find the right buyer or lessee. We know sales and/or leases take some time to be put in place and we are still excited for our upcoming events at the Charlotte Avenue location — like the Nashville Scene’s Burger Week, our weekly trivia and weekly brewery bingo events,” said founder and owner, Matthew Carney, in an interview with the Nashville Post.

The barbecue joint boasts the biggest moonshine selection in Nashville and has been smoking its signature chicken since 2014 at its original Wedgewood-Houston location. The renovations in store for the building include a complete second-story addition to keep up with the growing demand of being located in the ever-popular Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood.

Smokin’ Thighs offers an eclectic menu of chicken burgers, chicken wings, chicken salad, mac and cheese, flatbread pizza, and offers a full bar and a generous 2-for-1 beer special all day, every day.

What Now Nashville reached out to Carney for comment, but did not receive a response by the time of publication. Keep up to date with Smokin’ Thighs’ renovation progress on its website, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
